Full Professor, Research Chair on Gambling at Concordia University
Sylvia Kairouz is a Full Professor and Canada Research Chair in Gambling Studies at Concordia University, where she leads the Lifestyle, Addiction and Mental Health Laboratory (HERMES Lab). Her research examines gambling behaviours, addiction, and public health, with a particular focus on online gambling trends and their impact on Canadian populations. She has directed numerous large-scale studies on gambling participation, risk factors, and gambling-related harms. Her work contributes to the development of evidence-based policies, regulatory frameworks, and responsible gambling initiatives at both provincial and federal levels in Canada.
